New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Friday, lauded Essel Group Chairman Dr Subhash Chandra and the Zee family for their contribution to the 'Swachh Bharat' campaign.

Under the leadership of Dr Subhash Chandra, the Zee family spread across the country has been an active participant in the 'Clean India' campaign.
Launched on Oct 2 last year, the ambitious Swachh Bharat mission aims to make the country clean by 2019, when the nation will celebrate 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi.
The Centre will spend nearly Rs 2 lakh crore in a five-year span as part of its ambitious plan to completely clean India by October 2019. While the Urban Development Ministry will allocate Rs 62,000 crore for cleaning towns across the country, the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation will spend Rs 1,34,000 crores for providing clean water and improving sanitation.
