Timeline for criminal tracking system implementation extended

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Tuesday approved the home ministry's proposal to extend the timeline for implementation of the crime and criminals tracking network and systems (CCTNS) project upto March 2017, sources said.

New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Tuesday approved the home ministry's proposal to extend the timeline for implementation of the crime and criminals tracking network and systems (CCTNS) project upto March 2017, sources said.

It also approved the operation and maintenance phase for the project for an additional five years, up to March 2022.

CCTNS aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency of policing through e-governance and evolution of IT-enabled tracking system.
