TMC MP demands timeframe for declassification of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose files

Kolkata: A timeframe for the process of declassification of files on nationalist leader Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by the Centre should be set, Trinamool Congress MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy said on Tuesday.

"The West Bengal government has released all the files it had on Netaji at one go. Why can't the Centre also do it in one go?" he asked at the launch of Netaji researcher Anuj Dhar's book in Bengali on the late freedom fighter.

Wondering when will the process of declassification of files be completed by the Centre, he said there has to be a timeframe for it.

Netaji's grand-nephew Chandra Bose alleged that lot of secret files on the freedom fighter have already been destroyed.

"But we hope that we will get the shadow files as a copy is kept of every classified document," he said.

Dhar appealed that not only files from the Centre but also those from UK, Germany, China and Japan should also be released to get all clues regarding the mysterious disappearance of Netaji and the subsequent controversies.
