New Delhi/Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who was expected to meet top BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley here on Saturday, has reportedly been snubbed amid the raging Lalit Modi controversy.

Raje had flown to New Delhi this morning to attend a NITI Aayog meeting and was expected to meet the senior party leaders in the evening amid reports that she has been given a clean chit by the party leadership in the snowballing Lalitgate.

However, Raje was denied appointments with the three leaders, reports said, and the Rajasthan CM has already returned to Jaipur.

Raje had been under pressure to quit over her alleged involvement in Lalitgate.

Reports had, however, claimed that the top leadership of the party was learnt to have accepted Raje's defence as PM Modi met Shah and Jaitley yesterday over the issue.

Raje's visit to New Delhi came a day after the state BJP refuted all the allegations being levelled at her, saying yesterday that the document which she signed in support of Lalit Modi's immigration application to the UK government was never produced in court as she had backed out of it later.

The state unit of the party also claimed that Lalit Modi's investment in the chain of hotels owned by her son was legal and had been disclosed to authorities.

Congress has accused Raje of quid pro quo in helping Modi and launched a relentless attack on her, demanding her resignation.

Raje has maintained silence over the raging row even though her office has termed the allegations "untrue", claiming that they were aimed at harming her politically.

BJP for its part has said that it "fully supports" her.

The party has called her its tallest and most popular leader in the state, where she has led the party to its biggest Assembly and Lok Sabha wins.

At a press conference in Jaipur yesterday, Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister RS Rathore had even said that Raje will also attend a NITI Aayog sub-committee meeting on Sunday.

Raje was scheduled to visit London from June 27 to July 2 but cancelled her UK tour early this week in view of the NITI Aayog meet.
