Vice President Hamid Ansari on Monday paid tributes to former deputy prime minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his death anniversary at his memorial, the Samta Sthal in the national capital.



New Delhi: Vice President Hamid Ansari on Monday paid tributes to former deputy prime minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his death anniversary at his memorial, the Samta Sthal in the national capital.

Also present were his daughter and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot.

A prominent Dalit leader, Babu Jagjivan Ram reportedly holds the record for being the longest-serving cabinet minister, having held a key position in successive governments for 30 years. He passed away on July 6, 1986, aged 78 years old.
