While politics got 'detached' from religion, Modi govt took measures to preserve 'Sanatan Dharma': Amit Shah

Vrindavan: With an eye on the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah said, the Narendra Modi government had taken measures to preserve and promote 'Sanatan dharma', and taken the country on the path of dharma (righteousness).

While addressing a huge gathering at the temple city, Shah on Monday said, the incumbent government under Modi's leadership had taken measures to preserve and promote 'Sanatan DDharma', while politics in the country had earlier got "detached" from religion.

Speaking on the occasion of inauguration of the 125 feet high 'Priyantakju' dedicated to 'Radha-Krishna' in Vrindavan, the BJP president said, "Due to wrong myths, a gap had been created between dharma and politics over the years, but the Modi government has again taken the country on the path of dharma."

"We have a government in this country which will not only take it forward on the path to prosperity but will also spread its spiritual message worldwide," he said, adding it has taken steps to preserve Indian culture and symbols of Sanathan dharma (Hinduism).

The temple constructed by noted Bhagwat katha exponent Devkinandan Thakur was inaugurated by Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki in the presence of Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Mathura MP Hema Malini and actor Mukesh Khanna.

Tomar said only Hindu culture and Sanathan Dharma can take humanity on the path to peace.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi said that since cow slaughter ban was in the state government's domain, the BJP should be brought to power in Uttar Pradesh to address the matter.
