Guwahati: A senior Congress leader on Sunday made a defamatory comment against Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani.
Nilamoni Sen Deka, the former state Agriculture minister, kicked up a storm yesterday when he said that many people refer to Smriti Irani as the second wife of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly condemned Deka's remarks which he made while addressing a public meeting in Nalbari.

Reacting sharply to the remarks, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav said it was a "shameful assertion" by the Congress leader towards Irani.
