New Delhi: Shortly after Delhi Police registered a case of murder on Tuesday in connection with the death of former Union minister Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar, Congress has questioned the timing of the FIR.

Speaking to ANI, Congress leader Rashi Alvi asked why has the FIR been registered one year after the crime.

“So many questions arise as to why police have registered an FIR now,” Alvi said.

He called on the police to ensure an unbiased probe into the case. “FIR has been registered after a year; now investigation will happen. Police should look into this unbiasedly,” Alvi said.

Another Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury asked everyone not to speculate as the issue isn't a political one.

It would be dangerous to accuse anyone, she cautioned, adding it should first be established who murdered Sunanda.
