Police claimed to have busted 11 hideouts of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in J&K`s Doda district.
Jammu: Police on Monday claimed to have busted 11 hideouts of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in Jammu and Kashmir`s Doda district.
"Acting on inputs of Hizb Divisional Commander Javed Qaureshi, who was arrested in Dehradun on December 12, we busted his 11 hideouts in forest belt of Doda and recovered large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives during a week-long operation," IGP (Jammu Zone) Dilbagh Singh told reporters here.
The recoveries included one machine gun, one rifle, 6 AK rifles, two pistols, 29 magazines and 3,843 rounds of AK rifle, he said.
Besides, one wireless set, three antenna, one satellite phone, two IED remote control and three IED detonators were also recovered, the IGP said.
Qureshi, who was handed over to Doda Police last week, is involved in the killings of 51 people -- including 13 policemen, as many civilians, 11 paramilitary personnel, six army men -- during his 16 years of militancy career in Chinab belt of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Gool, Singh said.
As many as 18 cases are registered against him in Doda and Udhampur districts, he said.
