1,445 J&K flood victims to get compensation in bank accounts

Jammu and Kashmir flood victims will get compensation directly into their bank accounts after clearance from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), state government said on Friday.

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir flood victims will get compensation directly into their bank accounts after clearance from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), state government said on Friday.

A total number of 1445 cases have been cleared by the NDMA and the payments are being transferred electronically to beneficiaries, state government said.

"Consequent to the exercise, relevant details have been furnished in respect of 1445 cases which have since been cleared by the NDMA and the payments are being transferred electronically to the beneficiaries in the state", a Raj Bhawan spokesperson said.

Following the directions given by Governor NN Vohra, re-verification exercise was carried out by the Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Division which will be submitted to NDMA to furnish all pending Bank details by January, 31, 2015.

Earlier, NDMA has cleared 1095 cases, of which 756 are for Rajouri district, 89 for Jammu district and 213, 20 and 17 cases cleared for beneficiaries in Udhampur, Samba and Reasi districts, respectively.

All the cases of Poonch district under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) have also been cleared and there is no pendency, as on date, in the entire Jammu Division with regard to SDRF disbursements for damaged houses, the spokesperson added .

The Governor earlier had ordered that there should be no delay in the disbursement of relief under PMNRF due to any deficiency in the Bank Account details of the beneficiaries.

He had also directed the Divisional Commissioners Jammu and Kashmir to ensure that the requisite information sought by the NDMA regarding full details of Bank Accounts in respect of all remaining cases should also be immediately made available to them latest by January, 31, 2015.

NDMA has released payments to the owners of 7083 fully damaged pucca and kutcha houses in Jammu Division, the spokesperson added.
