14th batch of 2,521 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Braving heavy rains and bad weather conditions, a batch of 2,521 pilgrims on Thursday left the Jammu base camp for the 13,500-feet high cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.

Escorted by the CRPF jawans, the pilgrims, including 595 women and 58 children, left in a cavalcade of 88 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at around 0500 hours for Amarnath, police said.
With today`s batch, as many as 48,358 pilgrims have left Jammu in 15 batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine.
