Srinagar: 32 police personnel from Jammu and Kashmir including IGP, Kashmir S J M Gillani were on Sunday awarded President's police medals.
"On the eve of Independence Day-2016, the central government has announced President's Police Medals for distinguished service, for meritorious service and for gallantry.
"The awardees include 32 personnel from Jammu and Kashmir Police," an official spokesman said.
He said President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service has been awarded to IGP Kashmir, Gillani and DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Surinder Kumar Gupta.
Police Medal for Gallantry has been awarded to Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Superintendent of Police, Sajjad Ahmad Shah, Dy Superintendent of Police, Nazir Ahmad Teli, Inspector, Arif Ahmad Sheikh, Sub Inspector, Nissar Ahmad Dar, Head Constable.
Others awarded are Ashiq Hussain Tak, Dy Superintendent of Police, Dilraj Singh, Sub Inspector, Nazeer Ahmad Dar, Constable, Gazanfar Syed, Inspector, Mohammad Akbar, Constable, Tejinder Singh, Superintendent of Police, Syed Mansoor, Constable and Rakesh Pandita, Assistant Sub Inspector, the spokesman said.
Police Medal for Meritorious Service has been awarded to Sub Inspector Mohammad Shafi Shah, Dy SP Deepti Lal Salotra, ASI Abas Ali Shah, Inspector Tarsem Singh Chib, ASI Riyaz Ahmad Shah, ASI Kuldeep Raj Dy SP Predemen Kumar Tikoo, Dy SP Veerinder Kumar and Additional SP Mohammad Saleem Khan.
Dy SP Bodh Raj, Dy SP Ravail Singh Director Prosecution Pawan Kumar Gupta, SI Farooq Ahmad Khan, Dy SP Bhagwant Singh ASI Ghulam Rubani Shah, Dy SP Vijay Pal Singh and ASI Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh are among those honoured.
Meanwhile, the state government also awarded Sher-e-Kashmir Police Medal for meritorious services and gallantary to 41 police officers and officials on the eve of Independence Day.
Prominent among them are Special DGP S K Mishra, SSP Ramesh Kumar Jalla, Dy SP Sham Lal Thakur and Inspector Reyaz Ahmad Langoo.
