330 industrial units in Kashmir valley sick: J&K Govt

330 industrial units, or nearly 2 per cent, of the over 15,000 units in the Kashmir valley are sick, the state legislative council was informed today.

Srinagar: 330 industrial units, or nearly 2
per cent, of the over 15,000 units in the Kashmir valley are
sick, the state legislative council was informed today.

There are more than 24,000 industrial units in the Jammu
region, while in Kashmir region the number of such units is
over 15,000.

"Total number of small, medium and large scale industrial
units in the state are 39,450," Minister for Industries and
Commerce Manohar Lal Sharma said in a written reply in the
state legislative council here.

Out of these industrial units, Sharma said 419 units have
been declared sick with 89 of these located in Jammu region
and 330 in Kashmir.

The total amount of money invested in the industrial
units in the state is over Rs 3,601 crore. Of this, Rs 676.82
crore have been invested in the Kashmir, while Rs 2924.34
crore have been invested in the Jammu region.

The government also informed the house that there are 28
Industrial Estates in Kashmir region, and 22 in Jammu region.

The minister said nine Industrial Estates are under
development in Kashmir division, out of which two are in Leh
district, and three Estates are under development in Jammu
region.
