3,723 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Amid tight security arrangements, a ninth batch of 3,723 pilgrims today left the Jammu base camp for the 13,500-feet high cave shrine of Amarnath.

Jammu: Amid tight security arrangements, a ninth batch of 3,723 pilgrims today left the Jammu base camp for the 13,500-feet high cave shrine of Amarnath.

The pilgrims, including 104 women, 88 children, left in a cavalcade of 118 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at around 0500 hours for Amarnath, police said.

The convoy of pilgrims escorted by CRPF, left here amid heavy rains in the morning.
With today`s batch, as many as 29,801 pilgrims have left Jammu in eight batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine.
