Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir DGP Kuldeep Khoda
on Wednesday said some 500 militants were still active in the state.

Around 300 militants were active in Kashmir Valley and
the rest in Jammu division, he told mediapersons here on the
sidelines of a sports function.
On infiltration from across the border, the Director
General of Police said security forces were on high alert to
foil such attempts.

On Pakistani media reports about terror outfits, under
the banner of the United Jehad Council (UJC), trying to push
militants into India, the DGP said "these reports are not new
and are not at all surprising."

On frequent release and arrest of separatist leaders
in the Valley, the DGP said this was done in accordance with
law and order requirements.
