Manigam: To ensure that the upcoming
panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir are free of any
glitches, adequate security arrangements have been put in
place by the state authorities.

"We have made the preparations for the (panchayat)
polls. The usual drill, that we have to conduct keeping in
view the inputs and the situation, will be done and we are
mobilising our forces," Director General of Police Kuldeep
Khoda said today.

The DGP was speaking to mediapersons after a passing
out parade of 917 recruits, who graduated as constables in
different wings of the state police from Police Training
Centre here, 35 kms from Srinagar.

The three-tier panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir
will be held in 16 phases, starting April 13.

He said the necessary measures like area security and
domination would be carried out in the run up to the polls
beginning next month.

He said the core group on security had met yesterday
discussing every aspect of the situation.
