`AFSPA can`t be revoked on basis of single case`

BJP Saturday said the Armed Forces Special Powers Act cannot be revoked in Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of a single firing incident like the one that occurred in Baramulla.

New Delhi: BJP Saturday said the Armed Forces
Special Powers Act cannot be revoked in Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of a single firing incident like the one that
occurred in Baramulla.

"Based on a single incident alone, the Act cannot be
repealed," BJP spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here
today.

Naqvi was asked by reporters if the AFSPA should continue
to be in force in J and K in the wake of the death of a youth
allegedly in firing by security forces in Baramulla on
Saturday which has triggered protests in the district.
Baramulla district witnessed protests for the second
day today over the killing of the youth with Chief Minister
Omar Abdullah ordering a magisterial probe into the incident.
