Agenda for alliance of PDP-BJP coalition is anti-Jammu: ACC

The AIIMS coordination committee (ACC) on Monday termed the 'Agenda of the Alliance' of ruling PDP-BJP coalition in Jammu and Kashmir as "anti-Jammu".

Jammu: The AIIMS coordination committee (ACC) on Monday termed the 'Agenda of the Alliance' of ruling PDP-BJP coalition in Jammu and Kashmir as "anti-Jammu".

"The agenda of alliance, which the BJP signed with the PDP to become part of Jammu and Kashmir Government, is fundamentally bad, backward-looking, reactionary and anti- Jammu," chairman ACC, Abhinav Sharma, said.

AIIMS coordination committee is the amalgam of more than 70 social, religious, political and business organisations that is spearheading the agitation for setting up of the proposed AIIMS in Jammu.

Sharma asked the BJP to redesign the 'Agenda for Alliance' taking into the account the social, economic, administrative and political aspirations of the people of Jammu province.

The 'Agenda of Alliance' not only contains everything for Kashmir, including AIIMS and super specialty hospital, but also gives respectability to Kashmiri separatists and Pakistan as it terms them internal and external stakeholders, respectively, he said.

It maintains a status quo as far as the state's political and constitutional status within India is concerned, Sharma said.

"The people of Jammu province had voted for the BJP to break the 67-year-old status-quo and bring the state closer to India than ever before. The 'Agenda of Alliance' is a negation of the mandate that the people of Jammu region gave to the BJP," he said.

Sharma said that if BJP wants to win over the estranged people of Jammu province and regain its lost political space, it must discard the agenda of alliance and adopt a policy that is state and country-centric.
