Another batch of devotees leaves for Amarnath

Amid tight security, the 20th batch of 1,583 pilgrims left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.

Jammu: Amid tight security, the 20th batch of 1,583 pilgrims on Wednesday left for the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas from here.

The pilgrims comprising 1,102 men, 325 women and 10 children, left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu in a cavalcade of 55 vehicles at 7:00 am, police said.
The convoy for the yatra has already crossed Udhampur on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and would reach their destinations at Baltal and Pahalgam base camps by this evening, they said.
As many as 38,003 pilgrims have so far left from the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath shrine.
