Srinagar: The Indian Army on Friday foiled an infiltration bid in Pallanwala sector of Jammu and Kashmir. In the attempt to keep the infiltrators from crossing over to the border, one jawan was injured. According to reports, the injured jawan is in a stable conditions.
A group of terrorists taking advantage of bad weather conditions tried to infiltrate into Indian side of LoC in Pallanwala forward area of Jammu district today, a Defence spokesman said.
Army troops challenged and foiled the infiltration bid, he said, adding that in the exchange of fire one jawan suffered injuries and has been hospitalised.
"He (jawan) is stable," the spokesman said adding that entire area has been cordoned off and combing operation is on when the last reports came from the area.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) in an official release also said that alert troops foiled an infiltration attempt in Pallanwala sector.
"In the ensuing fire fight, one jawan was injured who is stable now. Area was immediately cordoned and combing operations are in progress when last report came in," it said.
