Jammu: The Army has lodged a strong protest with its Pakistan counterpart over firing on Indian posts along the line of control in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistani troops opened small arms firing on Indian posts along the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district again around 2100 hours last night, Public Relation Officer Ministry of Defence Col RK Palta told reporters.

The firing continued for a brief period and since then there has been no firing from across the border, he said.

In response, Indian troops carried out controlled and effective retaliation, he added.

It may be recalled that Pakistani troops indulged in unprovoked and heavy arms firing on the post along LoC in Krishna Ghati sector since 2 PM on June 13 leaving an Army jawan dead and three others injured.

This is the third incident of ceasefire violation this week. Army authorities have lodged a strong protest with their Pakistani counterparts over the incidents of cross-border firing and ceasefire violations.

Col Palta said that a message was passed through hotline to Pakistan to exercise restraint for de-escalating the situation.

Unprovoked firing requires a strong response. India should hit hard and destroy the pakistani posts which are firing. India is the only country in the world which wants to negotiate a ceasefire after being fired upon unprovoked. What a shame! These are not the signs of a future superpower that India aspires to be. I guess it may only become a superpower on paper.

Pl. let artillery guns & missiles lodge our protest. The only hotline is the line of action. Fire at will & Shoot to kill.
