Jammu: With the aim to provide free medical care to the residents of far-off and border areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Army organised a medical camp in remote Samote village of Poonch district.
"The Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Samote organised a medical camp at Samote yesterday. The camp was organised with an objective of providing immunisation to children, treating the patients, distributing medicines and spreading awareness on health-related issues especially during winter," a Jammu- based defense spokesman said.
He said the army doctors held counselling session on hygiene, water purification and prevalent lifestyle diseases.
"A total of 1,080 patients including 345 women and 325 children attended the camp," the spokesman said.
He said a medical and veterinary camp was also organised by the Army, under Kalidhar Brigade at Dabbar, a central place for many small villages.
"A total of 240 patients and 107 livestock were given free medical treatment," the spokesman added.
