Jammu: Army has started using bio-metric
finger printing technology for recruitments in Jammu and
Kashmir to tighten the noose on touts and impersonators
operating during job rallies.
"We have used bio-meteric finger print technology at
recruitment rallies for choosing the best lot for army and to
do away with touts and impersonators, who might be alluring
candidates coming from remote belts for rallies", Deputy
Director General (DDG), Recruiting (Punjab-J&K), Brig Vinod
Raizada told reporters here today.
Apart from using the technology, the army`s vigilance
network and other wings are keeping an eye on touts and
impersonators, Brig Raizada said.
"We are taking finger prints and other samples from
candidates appearing at the rallies. If one qualifies, he can
go to other step of tests only when finger prints match. There
is no possibility of impersonating now," he said.
Over 25000 candidates from various districts have
turned up at the week-long recruitment rally at Sunjuwan
military station on the city`s outskirts.
Besides touts, army is also closely monitoring
and scrutinising the documents of the candidates to prevent
impersonation, he said.
Maximum number of candidates taking part in the
recruitment rally at Sunjuwan are from Jammu district, Brig
Raizada said, adding that the number of job aspirants from
Kashmir valley has also shown an upward trend.
While 9000 candidates turned up at the Sunjuwan rally
from Jammu only, 2000 boys from the Valley also thronged
recruitment rallies held in Kashmir, he said.
