Jammu: A batch of 2,738 pilgrims on Wednesday left the Jammu base camp for the 13,500-feet high cave shrine
of Amarnath amid tight security.
Escorted by the CRPF jawans, the pilgrims, including
1,906 men, 581 women, 52 children and 199 sadhus left in a
cavalcade of 86 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in
Jammu at around 0530 hours for Amarnath, police said.
The convoy of yatra has crossed Shatani Nallah area in
Ramban district on Jammu-Srinagar National highway towards
base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Kashmir valley.
With today`s batch, as many as 45,837 pilgrims have
left Jammu in 14 batches for their onward journey to the cave
