Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP on Sunday demanded a thorough probe into the sectarian clashes in Budgam to help identify the people responsible for disrupting normal life in the region.

"We express concern over continuing spate of sectarian clashes in Budgam and adjoining areas over the last ten days. We demand a thorough probe to identify the elements behind these clashes and expose their nefarious designs," BJP's state chief spokesperson Jitendra Singh said.

Singh suggested a joint meeting of religious heads of the two conflicting sects in Budgam to ensure peace in the area.

He appealed to the administration to immediately bring to book the mischief mongers and also make arrangements for adequate compensation to those whose houses and other property suffered damages in the violence.

Outfits like Lashkar-e-Toiba, Hizbul Mujahideen and Indian Mujahideen are resorting to the methodology of planting rumours to instigate violence and provoke attacks on security forces, the BJP leader said.

The Gool incident of July 18, in which four persons were killed in firing, is one such example, Singh added.
