Jammu: A three-member BJP Parliamentary Panel on Sunday night discussed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the ongoing panchayat elections and party affairs with the state party leadership here.

Senior BJP Parliamentarians Sumitra Mahajan, Maya Singh and Sanjay Ahura, who reached here today as part of an All Party Parliamentary Committee, held a meeting with BJP's J&K leadership led by its state president Shamsher Singh Manhas, a BJP spokesman said.

They discussed the present security situation in the state from the party's point of view and also other issues relating to the state's polity and development, he said.

Manhas gave them a briefing on the ongoing panchayat elections. He also spelt out the different programmes planned by the state unit for the next few months, especially those relating to the interlocutors' report, shortage of electricity and drinking water, price rise and forthcoming Amarnath yatra, the spokesman said.
