Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir unit of BJP on Saturday
took out a demonstration and clashed with police demanding the
Central University Jammu (CUJ) be made functional soon.

Over 400 activists of BJP, led by district president
Rajesh Gupta, took out the protest rally from its headquarter
in Kachi-Chawani in Jammu city.

Due to the prohibitory orders imposed in Jammu city,
police tried to prevent them from taking out the rally leading
to clashes.

"Government should immediately appoint a VC and make the
Central university functional at the earliest," Gupta told
reporters here today.

Jammu has always been discriminated by the respective
governments at the state, he said adding that, all Central
universities except Jammu are functional and currently holding
second year of academic session this year.
