BJP's Adityanath concerned over plight of Kashmiri Pandits

Extending "full" support to the displaced Kasmiri Pandits of Kashmir Valley, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on Sunday criticised political parties, social organisations and human rights groups for "alienating" their cause.

New Delhi: Extending "full" support to the displaced Kasmiri Pandits of Kashmir Valley, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on Sunday criticised political parties, social organisations and human rights groups for "alienating" their cause.

Addressing a function organised by Kashmiri Vichar Manch at Kalibari here, Adityanath said,"the Kashmiri Samaj had been facing atrocities for long time and even now they have been displaced in their own country."

The function was organised in the memory of BJP leader T L Taploo who was shot dead by militants in Kashmir Valley in 1989.

"Bangladeshis live in this country but whenever there is talk to expel them, many political parties oppose it and support them. But when there was proposal for rehabilitating Kashmiri Pandits no political party came in their favour," he claimed.

Citing examples of Jews and Israel and how they "defended their national sovereignty against odds", the BJP leader said that there was a need to fight against terrorism on "all fronts".

Paying tribute to Kashmiri Pandits killed by terrorists in the Valley in 1990s, he said, "problems of the Kashmiri Samaj are yet to be solved because their pain was not felt by the rest of the India."

Referring to a ban on his programme in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, Adityanath said that Hindus are termed "communal" when they raise issues like singing of Vande Mataram and ban on slaughtering cows.

Adityanath, known for his firebrand speeches against the minorities, claimed that there was peace in the Eastern UP because of him.

"In Gorakhpur area around Gorakhnath temple is known most peaceful and safe area. In UP anti-Hindu incidents are reported from various districts but because of Goraknath temple in Gorakhpur, entire Eastern UP is safe," he said.

Adityanath is the Mahant of Gorakhnath Peeth.
