BSF hands over intruder`s body to Pak Rangers in Jammu

BSF on Tuesday handed over body of intruder to Pakistan Rangers in Jammu sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu: BSF on Tuesday handed over body of intruder, who was killed last week in exchange of fire along the International Border, to Pakistan Rangers in Jammu sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

"We have handed over the body of the Pakistan intruder at the forward post along International Border in Akhnoor sub-sector of Jammu district today," a BSF officer told PTI.

The body of the intruder, who was killed during exchange of firing on August 20, was handed over at flag meeting between BSF officers and Pak Rangers at Garkhal forward post along IB in Jammu around 1630 hours today.

Ahead of that the body was exhumed in presence of Magistrate and police officers in Akhnoor, where it was buried after Pakistan refused to accept it.

Heavy firing exchanges erupted along IB after Pakistan violated ceasefire by targetting Indian posts along Indo-Pak border to push in a group of militants in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district, in which the intruder was killed.

On that day, Pakistani Rangers fired on Indian posts of Mala Bela, Garkhal, Sidra camp and Naka Number-10 along IB in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district.

The firing was aimed to facilitate a group of militants into Indian territory. "We observed movement of suspected militants along border," BSF official said.
