Citizens Forum for separate fund allocation for J&K regions

Jammu Citizens Forum on Monday demanded separate allocation of funds in the state budget for the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu: Jammu Citizens Forum on Monday demanded
separate allocation of funds in the state budget for the three
regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

"The Forum demanded separate allocations in the state
budget for all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and
Ladakh," president of the Forum RK Chadda told reporters
after a meeting with its activists here.

He expressed concern over "mutual distrust and bickering"
among the people of three regions.

Chadda said people of all the three region complain of
discrimination in development, spending on social services,
tourism promotion and in share in government services.

"Whereas in the past it were Jammu and Ladakh regions
who were complaining of raw deal, lately political leaders
from Kashmir have starting complaining about the valley being
discriminated," he said.

Suggesting a solution, the Forum demanded separate
allocation of funds for development projects, social services
and tourism promotion for the three regions.

The central funding to the state should also be
equitably distributed among three regions, Chadda said.

The forum has further demanded setting up of separate
tourism development boards for the three regions, with
separate funds earmarked, so that all the regions having rich
potential of tourism development are benefited.
