Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) Saturday accused the government of delaying the implementation of its order on salary increase of 'Rehbar-e-Taleem' teachers.

"The decision (to enhance the emoluments of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers) was announced by the government in the state legislative assembly during the budget session in February this year but has not been implemented till date," CPI(M) state secretary, M Y Tarigami, said in a statement.

The government was exhibiting "criminal negligence and insensitive attitude" by not raising the emoluments from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000, he alleged.

This has "generated great frustration among the Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers (who are appointed on primary, middle and high school levels), which in turn tells upon the education of young children at the elementary level," he claimed.

The CPI(M) leader asked the administration to take up the matter on priority basis and immediately release the increased emoluments with arrears.
