The CRPF Commandant was shot dead by terrorists an hour later after he unfurled the tricolour in Srinagar on the occasion of Independence Day.
Gun salutes were paid to the late CRPF commandant during his last rites.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti also paid her respects to the CRPF personnel.
Unable to control her tears and anguish, Kumar's grieving mother said, my son had gone to unfurl the national flag and what happened after that...he was martyred.
Didn't you (terrorists) ever thought how a mother will feel before killing my son.
“Don't know how this country is, my son was snatched sway from me,” the distressed mother said.
