CRPF convoy ambushed in Srinagar, terrorists injure two jawans

A group of unidentified terrorists opened fire at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Srinagar on Saturday evening, injuring two jawans, police sources said. 

Srinagar: A group of unidentified terrorists opened fire at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy here on Saturday evening, injuring two jawans, police sources said.  

The terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on the convoy which was passing from the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, official sources said.

"Two CRPF jawans were injured today (Saturday) evening when militants fired at a CRPF vehicle at Lev dora (Qazigund) on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway in Anantnag district," a senior police officer said.

According to reports, the injured troopers, part of a CRPF patrol in the area deployed to provide security to traffic on the highway, have been taken to hospital.

The militants, however, escaped taking advantage of darkness, police said, adding search operations have been launched in the area to nab the assailants.
