Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar to review security situation in Kashmir

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will arrive here tomorrow to review the security situation in the wake of spurt in militant violence in Kashmir, including the deadly attack on an army camp in Uri that left 11 security personnel dead.

Srinagar: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will arrive here tomorrow to review the security situation in the wake of spurt in militant violence in Kashmir, including the deadly attack on an army camp in Uri that left 11 security personnel dead.

"The Defence Minister is scheduled to arrive here tomorrow to review the security situation," an army official said.

This will be Parrikar's maiden visit after assuming charge. He will be briefed by senior army officers about the situation in the Valley and along the Line of Control, he said.
"The Defence Minister will also be briefed about the counter-infiltration grid in place along the LoC and the counter-insurgency grid in the hinterland," he said.

The Defence Minister is also likely to visit the War Memorial at the Badamibagh headquarters of Army's 15 Corps to pay tributes to the eight soldiers, including a Lieutenant Colonel, who were killed in the militant attack at Uri on December 5.
