Srinagar: A Kashmiri Pandit organisation on Sunday demanded that the body of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru be returned to his family members, saying it is their constitutional right.

"Kashmir Pandit Sangharsh Samiti (KPSS) request the Government of India to return mortal remains of Afzal Guru to his legal and legitimate heirs. It is the constitutional right of the family to ask for the same," president of the organisation, Sanjay Tickoo said in a statement.

He said the Government should accept the "collective conscience" of the people of Kashmir and the genuine and legitimate request of the family by returning the body.

43-year-old Guru was hanged and buried in Tihar Jail in Delhi on February 9.
