Jammu: The Department of Posts released two special postage stamps depicting drawings of school children on Tiger on the Children's day on Monday with a view to give a fillip to the 'Save the Tiger' campaign.

To commemorate Childrens Day celebrations, Chief Postmaster General (CPMG) DoP J&K, John Samuel released two special postage stamps at function organised here today.

"The stamps are of Rs 5 and Rs 20 denominations. Both the stamps on Childrens day depict the drawings of school children on Tiger", Samuel told reporters here today.

"By bringing out the stamps on tigers on Childrens Day, the Government is encouraging the school children to be involved in Save the Tiger campaign", he said.

This is a part of the Governments initiative to create awareness about protecting the Tigers, he said adding that DoP has been taking many innovative steps to bring high quality philately stamps.

He said that the Department of Posts brought out a unique stamp printed on Khadi cloth recently with the image of the Father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi.

This is the first time the Department brought out a stamp on cloth, he said adding that all other stamps are printed on paper and hence there has been a great demand for this stamp on Khadi.

Chief PMG announced that "My Stamp" will be available for the people of Jammu during the philately exhibition and under this project one can get "personalised stamps" with one?s own picture.
