Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government today said given the security situation in the state, it is duty-bound to ensure safety of the legislators.

"Provision of security is not any favour to them," Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar said making a statement in this regard in the Assembly.

Sagar said given the security situation in the state, all the legislators deserve adequate security cover and provision of security is their right.

He said concerns of the members about security would be redressed appropriately and the government did not want to single out any member in this regard.

Earlier, the minister gave details about the number of police personnel deputed for providing security to former MLA and district president of PDP in Pulwama Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Mir.
