Exclusion of JK Bank as banker most lethal nail by NC: PDP

Opposition PDP said the exclusion of Jammu and Kashmir Bank as the banker to the state government is the most lethal nail by the ruling National Conference into the state`s autonomy.

Srinagar: Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday said the exclusion of Jammu and Kashmir Bank as the banker to the state government is the most lethal nail by the ruling National Conference into the state`s autonomy.

The bank will not be permitted to provide overdraft to the state government now on.
"Exclusion of JK Bank as bankers to the state government, handing the general banking business and conceding debt management of the state to RBI is the latest and most lethal nail in the coffin of state`s autonomy by National Conference," PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said in a statement here.

She claimed that this decision removes the last fig leaf that the ruling party tried to cover its real intentions and duplicity with.
Mehbooba alleged that the decision is an "enslaving mechanism" for the state government, that is already reeling under the economic deprivation and "begging bowl syndrome" caused by the sellout of resources by successive NC governments.
