Srinagar: National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Friday refused to comment on Uri terror attack.
Abdullah, who today convened an all-party meeting to discuss the Kashmir unrest, said India and Pakistan need to sit and talk.
Until the issues between the two nations are solved, there will be no end to terrorism, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said.
Quoting former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's words, “We can't choose our neigbours”, the NC leader said, “We have to talk to Pakistan, there is no other option.”
While appealing to restore peace in kashmir, Abdullah said, "We are only concerned about peace, we don’t care about surgical strikes."
Abdullah's reaction comes at a time when the Valley has been witnessing un-ending violence for the last 97 days.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have been simmering ever since Indian Army conducted surgical strikes along the Line of Control on the intervening night of September 28-29.
At least 91 people have been killed and over 12,000 injured in the over three months unrest which started here on July 9, a day after the killing of top militant Burhan Wani in a gunfight with the security forces.
In a first, India carried out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the LoC with the Army inflicting "significant casualties" on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from PoK, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned Uri attack would not go unpunished.
Seven terror launch pads across the LoC were targeted by the Army on the intervening night of September 28 and 29 in a nearly five-hour-long operation during which heliborne and ground forces were deployed.
Jaish-e-Mohammad carried out terror attack at the Indian Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri in which 18 soldiers were killed and 30 others injured.
