Firm delaying completion of Jammu township to be penalised

Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered to penalise the private firm responsible for delay in completion of a multi-crore township project here for displaced Kashmiris.

ordered to penalise the private firm responsible for delay in
completion of a multi-crore township project here for
displaced Kashmiris.

Taking a serious note on delay in construction of 4218
flats at Jagti township, funded by Prime Minister relief
package, in Nagrota on of Jammu, Minister for Revenue, Relief
and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla asked Relief Commissioner
(Migrants) Vinood Koul to penalise the executing agency as per
fine fixed by the government in public works.

Rs 335 cr Jagti township project was granted to Maytas
Constructions during Gulam Nabi Azad Government in 2006.

The government has also asked the executing agency to
accelerate construction work, so that the project could be
completed before February 2011.

The minister also asked the construction firm to build
multi-purpose community hall, dispensary, fair price shop and
boundary wall, besides blacktopping link road.
