Four Jammu and Kashmir govt officials suspended

In a surprise visit, Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohiuddin found the four officials missing from work.

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has suspended four officials for allegedly being absent from duty in border town of Uri in north Kashmir.

In a surprise visit to the border town, 101 kms from here, yesterday, Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohiuddin found the four officials missing from the work under Uranbuha-Chandwanri irrigation scheme, an official said on Sunday.

Following which all of them were placed under suspension.

After finding the pumping station not functional and the operations office locked, the minister issued on the spot suspension orders to in-charge assistant executive engineer Fayaz Ahmad, junior engineer Umar Wani and helpers Showkat Ahmad and Farooq Ahmad.

The minister also called an explanation from the in-charge executive engineer Baramulla Altaf Ahmad, the spokesman added.
