Frame rules of Statistics Act in J&K: Jena
Srinagar: Union Minister of State Shri Kumar
Jena Tuesday stressed for early compilation of rules of the
Statistics Act in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure proper planning
in the state.
"Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has passed the Statistics Act
but the rules are yet to be framed. The rules, being framed, would help to collect statistics like in other states of the country," the MoS for Statistics and Programme Implementation told reporters here.
Jena, who arrived here yesterday, said he met Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah today and had a detailed discussion on
various issues of the statistics department.
"(With implementation of the Statistics Act) we (will)
get the right kind of data so that proper planning can be
possible in the state of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
The Union Minister, who also has charge of Chemicals and
Fertilizers, said he sought land from the Chief Minister to
build offices in the state.
Jena said he also had detailed discussion with Omar on
the issue of availability of fertilizers and assured full
support to the state.
