Girls outshine boys in class 12 examination in J&K

Girls performed better than boys in class 12th examinations, the results of which were declared by Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education.

Jammu: Girls have performed better than boys in class 12th examinations, the results of which were declared by Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education on Monday.

The girls scored 52 pass per cent as compared to boys with 48 per cent, Joint Secretary, JKBOSE, Ahmed Khatib said.

As many as 36,088 students appeared for class 12 examinations of which 17,541 cleared it, registering 49 pass percentage, he said.
"We are happy that there has been increase in pass percentage to 49 per cent this year as compared to 39 per cent last year," he said.
As far as the top positions are concerned, 14 girls and 12 boys scored top positions in science stream, followed by 16 girls and 6 boys in arts stream and 7 girls and 6 boys in commerce stream, Khatib said.
