Governor urges the three J&K regions to unite for peace

Amidst demands for trifurcation of J&K on regional lines, Governor NN Vohra on Tuesday urged people of all three regions of the state to join hands to resolve all contentious issues and bring peace and normalcy to the state.

Jammu: Amidst demands for trifurcation of
Jammu and Kashmir on regional lines, Governor N N Vohra on Tuesday
urged people of all three regions of the state to join hands
to resolve all contentious issues and bring sustained peace
and normalcy to the state.
"I urge all segments of society in all the three regions
to join hands to build a strong stable and prosperous Jammu
and Kashmir to make it a model state for the entire country to
emulate," he said here on the eve of the 62nd Republic Day.

"I pray that the coming time shall see the resolution of
all contentious issues and bring sustained peace and normalcy
to the state," Vohra said.

The Governor said that for achieving peace, progress and
prosperity, the Government and the Opposition, as well as all
religious, cultural and social organisations in the State
would need to work closely together.

"The people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered the
consequences of violence for a long time now. We must
recognise that issues involving contrary positions cannot be
resolved through violent agitations and confrontations," he
said, adding that it was time to resolve all issues peacefully
through conciliation and meaningful dialogue.
He said in the recent months, the Union government had
established Task Forces for Ladakh and Jammu regions,
appointed a three-member team of Interlocutors and announced
an eight-point formula for addressing some of the pressing
issues relating to Kashmir.

The State Government has welcomed all these initiatives,
he added.
