Jammu: Peoples Democratic Party patriarch Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Monday said corruption had crossed all limits in Jammu and Kashmir in the absence of a "transparent and accountable" government.

Alleging there was rampant corruption in the state, he said "anti-graft panels have been deliberately made defunct in Jammu and Kashmir."

"Corruption has crossed all limits in the state due to lack of transparency and accountability in the government," the PDP patron said

Governance deficit was the main reason of increasing alienation of the people, he said at a function here to welcome youths into his party fold.

The emergence of PDP had restored sanctity of democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir, Sayeed said.

It was only after the formation of PDP that an alternative was emerged in the state, he said adding his party was aggressively pursuing pro-people agenda.

His party had emerged as a credible and real voice of the people, the PDP supremo said.

People had brought changes through their power, he said referring to emergence of regional political powers in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other parts of the country.
