Help people, civil administration in snow-bound areas: J&K DGP to cops

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar on Wednesday directed all ranks of state police to extend their help to civil administration and people facing hardships in the snow-bound areas.



Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar on Wednesday directed all ranks of state police to extend their help to civil administration and people facing hardships in the snow-bound areas.

In a communique issued from Police Headquarters here today, the DGP said the people of affected snow-bound areas are experiencing difficulties on various fronts, more so, due to poor communication and other basic needs. It has become imperative upon the cops to extend possible help in minimising the problems of the populace.

He said snowfall in remote areas has added to the problems of people and the state police has a human responsibility to come forward for their help.

The DGP also asked all field officers including Range Dy Inspectors General of Police, District Superintendents of Police, SDPOs and SHOs for mobilising their resources for road clearance in the snow-bound areas so that road connectivity is restored at an earliest.

He asked to monitor the weather situation and sound alertness in the upper reaches to tackle any exigency causing due to the snow fall.

He stressed for better coordination with civil administration to ease the problems of the people caused due to bad weather and road blockades.

In the communique, Kumar has asked the field officers to remain available within their jurisdictions and provide every assistance to the civil administration in restoration of road connectivity, electricity, medical facilities and other essential services.

He said as per past practice J-K police would remain available for the service of the people and provide helping hand to the needy people, especially the patients to ferry them to nearby hospitals.
