New Delhi: At a time when tension runs high between India and Pakistan over the dastardly terror attacks in Uri the intelligence reports, the intelligence agencies have warned that more terrorists are waiting to infiltrate into the Indian side at an opportune time.

According to India Today, these Pakistan-backed militants are hiding at an area which is 200 kms from international border from Kathua to Akhnoor sector in Jammu.

Following the recent attacks at Kashmir's Uri sector, a red alert has been sounded in Jammu.

The Intelligence agencies have warned that the number of terrorists could be between 40-50, who are near the launching pads in areas close to Jammu.

In a major crackdown by the security forces, at  least 10 dreaded terrorists were gunned down in Jammu and Kashmir's Lachhipora area in Uri sector yesterday, few days after an attack on an Army camp killed 18 soldiers and injured 19 others.

Defence Ministry seeks report

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has asked for a detailed report from the Army on how the terrorists successfully entered the high security Battalion Headquarters without being spotted. The Defence Minister, hinting at intelligence alerts about a possible attack, today said, "Something might have gone wrong at Uri".

According to sources, Parrikar is concerned about how the militants gained entry to the base completely unchallenged despite timely intelligence inputs on attempts to target military installations.

New Delhi and Islamabad are locked in a bitter diplomatic war of words following the Uri terror attack, which India has blamed on militants from Pakistan.

Pakistan has meanwhile denied the allegations even as India claimed to have clinching evidence to support its claims.
