Huge arms haul in Kashmir

Srinagar: Security forces today recovered a huge cache of arms and explosives, including 120 UBGL shells and seven hand grenades, dumped by militants near a stream in north Kashmir Bandipora district.

The seizure included 120 under-barrel grenade launcher shells, 20 rounds of rocket projectile gun, 7 hand grenades, 37 explosive rods, 30 improvised explosive device circuits, 12 high explosive fuses and a roll of cordex wire.

An AK rifle with two magazines, two bayonets, 155 AK rounds, a pistol, six magazines, 553 pika rounds and two radio sets were also recovered from the water tank, the officials said.

Besides, two combat uniforms and Rs 150 in Pakistani currency were found near the stream.

The Rashtriya Rifles troops used sniffer dogs and metal detectors to unearth the huge haul of arms, ammunition and explosivies, the officials said.
