Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has given his nod to the annual plan of Rs 4.5 crore for Pahalgam Development Authority and Rs 2 crore for Manasbal Development Authority, officials said on Thursday.
The nod to the annual plan was given by the Chief Minister while reviewing the performance and achievements of the PDA and MDA in separate meeting here on Wednesday, an official spokesman said.
In the meeting, Abdullah said there was a need to conserve Jammu and Kashmir`s eco-balance and biodiversity in order to sustain the tourism glory of the state.
He said focusing attention on protecting water bodies is also of equal significance and the tourism development authorities have a special role in conserving environment along with creating necessary tourist infrastructure.
Abdullah highlighted the potential of Mansbal lake as an ideal water sports spot and asked for its harnessing.
He asked the Tourism department to take necessary measures for making Mansbal a befitting water sports lake.
