Jammu: With the annual Amarnath pilgrimage
going on smoothly in Jammu and Kashmir, over 2.58 lakh
pilgrims had darshan of holy ice ligam of Lord Shiva at the
13,500-ft high cave shrine.
"As many as 2,58,376 devouts had darshan so far -- 24,285
of them today," an official spokesman said.
While 8,867 pilgrims had darshan at Amarnath cave via the
traditional Pahlagam route, 15,418 yatries took the Baltal
route, he said.
Over 2 lakh yatris have returned after darshan, he said
adding pilgrims were paying obeisance without any difficulty.
Amid tight security arrangements, the 12th batch of 3,280
pilgrims on Monday left the Jammu base camp for the holy shrine.
The pilgrims, including 808 women and 76 children, left in
a cavalcade of 131 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp here
at around 0500 hours, police said.
With this, as many as 40,074 pilgrims have left Jammu in
batches for their onward journey to the cave shrine.
